Here you will find some random stories from the Horse world.

And a few from around our barn!

Elmer Bandit is a 15.1hh grey Arab cross (he has QH and a dash of Percheron) who has had one owner his whole life.

He broke the record for number of MILES logged in Competitive Trail Riding - 20,720 - last year. An awesome accomplishment...espcially when you consider he was 37 years old at the time.

Elmer just turned 38 on April 8th 2009!

During a bad snow storm this winter I heard a loud "crying" sound like a baby...Holy COW! Did someone drop off a BABY??!!

I followed the sound to a bush...there were no foot or paw prints in the snow/freezing rain that had been coming down overnight for over 15 hours.

I looked into the bush and there was a small, wet orange and white kitty! In the back of my mind I wondered if it would claw my hand to shreds as I reached out to pick him up. Instead, he attached himself to my arm and I carried him to the tack room. Poor thing was in bad shape - skinny,dehydrated,and he could barely walk.He drank a cereal bowl of warm water and ate a bit of food .

He has gained back his weight - is all fluffy - and comes running if I call him. We have no idea where he came from or how he got in the bush just outside my front door.

That Wild Mustangs are helping both prison inmates and at risk teens learn both patience and anger management - in turn the Mustangs recieve training that will help them get adopted to good homes! WIN WIN!

That old horses are NOT "supposed" to be skinny?!

That a lady with a 12 year old TB mare - that has been a broodmare for NINE years - is actually trying to RACE this poor horse? Yup, at Churchill Downs in Kentucky. So far the track has not allowed this...ya think?

That to be a "certified" Parelli "trainer" will cost you over $400,000.00 - US

That NO horse that has been Parelli "trained" or trained in the "Natural Horsemanship" way has EVER been in the Olympics...in any event. Actually the vast majority of horses advertised as trained in the "Natural Horsemanship" way - have LITTLE resale value.
